Subaru Forester: Maintenance / Climate control air filter. Inspecting the climate control air filter

Inspecting the climate control air filter

Replace the climate control air filter according to the factory maintenance schedule to maintain proper cabin ventilation and air quality. If you frequently drive your vehicle through heavily air-polluted areas, industrial zones, or unpaved dusty roads for extended periods, have the filter inspected more often and replaced earlier than normal. Follow this step-by-step procedure to service the climate control filter on your Kia Telluride, using gentle pressure to avoid cracking plastic interior trim components.

  1. Open the passenger glove box compartment and detach the support damper rod from the stopper pin located on the right side.

  2. With the glove box held open, firmly push inward on both side walls of the glove box assembly to clear the side stops, then lower the housing downward to free it from the dashboard.

  3. Locate the internal HVAC housing behind the glove box area and remove the climate control air filter cover by unclipping and pulling out the right tab of the cover housing.

  4. Slide out the old cabin element and replace the climate control air filter with a new one, ensuring proper airflow arrow orientation.

  5. Reassemble all climate control filter cover tabs, glove box side stops, and the side damper arm in the exact reverse order of disassembly.

NOTE

When you replace the climate control air filter, pay close attention to the directional airflow mark on the filter frame and ensure it snaps fully into place. Improper orientation or loose installation can create whistling wind noise inside the cabin and significantly reduce the overall dust retention performance of the HVAC system.
