Subaru Forester: Instrument cluster / Gauges

The gauges in your Kia Telluride provide real-time operating information, allowing you to monitor important vehicle systems and driving conditions at a glance.

Speedometer

The speedometer shows the current driving speed of your Kia Telluride. Depending on the selected display format, vehicle speed is indicated in either miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h), allowing you to accurately monitor your speed under all driving conditions.

Tachometer

The tachometer displays the approximate engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm), helping you monitor engine operation during acceleration and normal driving.

Use the tachometer to select appropriate shift points and avoid operating the engine at excessively low or excessively high engine speeds, both of which can affect performance and efficiency.

NOTE

Avoid allowing the engine speed to enter the tachometer's RED ZONE. Continuous operation in this range may result in serious engine damage.

Engine coolant temperature gauge

This gauge displays the engine coolant temperature whenever the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON position, allowing you to monitor normal engine operating temperature.

NOTE

If the gauge moves beyond the normal operating range toward the H (Hot) mark, the engine may be overheating. Continuing to drive in this condition could result in engine damage.

If overheating occurs, stop the vehicle safely and follow the procedures described in the section titled If the engine overheats.

WARNING

Never remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system remains under pressure, and escaping hot coolant or steam can cause severe burns. Always allow the engine to cool completely before checking or adding coolant.

This gauge indicates the approximate amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank, helping you determine when refueling is necessary.

TIP

  • Fuel tank specifications are listed in the Recommended lubricants and capacities section.

  • The low fuel warning light illuminates when the remaining fuel level becomes critically low.

  • While driving on steep grades or around sharp curves, the fuel gauge reading and low fuel warning light may fluctuate because fuel shifts inside the tank.

WARNING

Fuel gauge

Driving until the fuel supply is exhausted can place vehicle occupants at risk.

Refuel as soon as possible whenever the low fuel warning light illuminates or the gauge approaches the E (Empty) mark.

NOTE

Avoid operating the vehicle with an extremely low fuel level. Running completely out of fuel may cause engine misfires and could damage the catalytic converter.

Odometer

The odometer records the total distance traveled by your Kia Telluride throughout its lifetime. This value is useful for tracking scheduled maintenance intervals and overall vehicle usage.

  • Odometer range: 0–999,999 mi or 0–1,599,999 km.

  • The Distance to Empty function estimates how far the vehicle can travel using the fuel currently remaining in the tank.

    • Distance range: 1–9,999 mi or 1–9,999 km.

  • If the estimated remaining range falls below 1 mile (1.6 km), the trip computer displays "---" instead of a numerical value.

  • You must add more than 1.6 gallons (6 liters) of fuel before the fuel gauge and estimated range are updated.

TIP

  • If the Kia Telluride is parked on an incline or the battery has recently been disconnected, the estimated distance to empty may not be completely accurate until normal driving resumes.

  • The displayed driving range is an estimate and may differ from the actual distance you can travel.

  • The trip computer may not recognize small refueling amounts of less than 1.6 gallons (6 liters).

  • Driving style, road conditions, weather, traffic, and overall vehicle condition can all influence fuel economy and the estimated remaining driving range.

Outside temperature gauge

This gauge displays the current outside ambient temperature in 1°F or 1°C increments, depending on the selected measurement units.

  • Temperature range: -40°F–140°F (-40°C–60°C)

To help minimize driver distraction, the displayed outside temperature may update gradually rather than changing immediately like a conventional thermometer.

You can switch the temperature display between Fahrenheit and Celsius through the LCD display User Settings menu.
