Door, hood, liftgate, or sunroof open

The LCD display in your Kia Telluride provides a visual warning whenever a door, the hood, the liftgate, or the sunroof is not fully closed. The display identifies the specific opening so you can quickly confirm what requires attention before continuing your drive.

This screen indicates the currently selected exterior lighting mode based on the position of the lighting control switch, allowing you to verify your headlight setting at a glance.

You can enable or disable the Wiper/Lights Display feature through the User Settings menu in the Kia Telluride instrument cluster LCD display.

Front Wiper

The LCD display shows the currently selected front windshield wiper operating mode based on the position of the wiper control stalk.

This Wiper/Lights Display feature can also be activated or turned off through the User Settings menu in the Kia Telluride information cluster.

Low washer fluid

This warning message appears when the windshield washer fluid reservoir is nearly empty.

Refill the washer fluid reservoir as soon as practical to ensure proper windshield cleaning and clear visibility.

Engine overheated

This warning message appears when the engine coolant temperature exceeds approximately 248°F (120°C), indicating that the engine has become excessively hot and may suffer damage if operation continues.

If this warning is displayed, refer to the "If the engine overheats" section for the recommended procedure.

Ice possible. Drive with care.

This message alerts the driver that outside conditions may allow ice to form on the roadway.

When the outside temperature falls below approximately 40°F (4°C), the outside temperature display and warning indicator blink five times before remaining illuminated, accompanied by a single warning chime.

WARNING

Low engine oil

This message is displayed whenever the engine oil level falls below the recommended operating range.

TIP

Engine oil change due soon. Reset oil life after oil change.

This reminder appears when the remaining engine oil life reaches approximately 5% or less, indicating that maintenance should be scheduled soon.

Engine oil change due now. Reset oil life after oil change.

This message appears when the remaining oil life reaches approximately 1% or below. Replace the engine oil as soon as possible through an authorized Kia dealer or qualified service facility.

Low key battery (for smart key system)

This warning appears when the battery inside the smart key is nearly depleted after the ENGINE START/STOP button is switched to the OFF position. Replace the battery promptly to maintain reliable smart key operation.

Press START button while turning wheel (for smart key system)

This message is displayed if the steering wheel remains locked when the ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed. Turn the steering wheel gently left and right while pressing the button to release the steering lock.

Steering wheel not locked (for smart key system)

This message appears if the steering wheel fails to lock properly after the ENGINE START/STOP button has been switched to the OFF position.

Check steering wheel lock system (for smart key system)

This warning indicates that the steering wheel locking mechanism is not operating normally after the vehicle has been turned off. Have the Kia Telluride inspected if the message continues to appear.

Key not in vehicle (for smart key system)

This message appears when the smart key cannot be found inside the Kia Telluride while attempting to operate the ENGINE START/STOP button. Ensure the smart key remains inside the vehicle before starting or operating the engine.

Key not detected (for smart key system)

This warning is displayed when the vehicle cannot recognize the smart key after the ENGINE START/STOP button has been pressed.

Shift to P or N to start engine (for smart key system)

This message appears if an engine start is attempted while the transmission is not in either P (Park) or N (Neutral).

Press brake pedal to start engine (for smart key system)

This warning appears if the ENGINE START/STOP button cycles to the ACC position because the brake pedal was not depressed during the starting procedure. Press the brake pedal fully before attempting to start the engine.

Battery discharging due to external electrical devices

The Kia Telluride can detect excessive battery discharge caused by aftermarket electrical accessories, such as dashboard cameras or other externally connected devices.

If this warning remains after disconnecting external equipment, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Press START button again (for smart key system)

• This message appears if the ENGINE START/STOP button cannot complete the requested operation because of a temporary system issue.

• Attempt to start the engine again by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button once more.

• If the warning continues to appear every time the button is pressed, have your Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Press START button with key (for smart key system)

• This warning appears if the ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed while the "Key not detected" message is active.

• The immobilizer indicator will flash. Hold the smart key close to the ENGINE START/STOP button and press the button again to start the engine.

Headlights are Off

This reminder appears when the exterior lighting is turned OFF while the Kia Telluride is being driven in dark or low-light conditions, encouraging the driver to switch on the headlights for improved visibility and safety.
