Subaru Forester: Automatic climate control system / Air conditioning (A/C) automatic drying

The A/C Automatic Drying function helps remove moisture that remains inside the air conditioning system after use, reducing the possibility of unpleasant odors developing over time. Approximately 30 minutes after the Kia Telluride has been turned off, the blower motor operates automatically to dry the system.

Turning A/C automatic drying on or off

You can enable or disable the A/C Automatic Drying feature by selecting Settings > Climate > Climate Features > A/C Automatic Drying on the infotainment system screen.

When the feature is enabled, the climate control system automatically sets the blower fan to the third speed level and switches the air intake to the outside (fresh air) mode during the drying cycle.

TIP

The infotainment system interface may change following software updates. Refer to the infotainment owner's manual or the quick reference guide for the latest menu information.

Operating conditions

The A/C Automatic Drying function operates only when the following conditions are met:

  • The vehicle is turned off after the air conditioner has been used for a certain period.

  • The 12V battery has sufficient remaining charge.

  • The outside temperature is above the required operating level.

Non-operating conditions

The A/C Automatic Drying function stops operating under any of the following conditions:

  • The drying cycle has operated for approximately 10 minutes.

  • The ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed or the vehicle is switched to the ON position.

  • The climate control system is started remotely.

TIP

  • The A/C Automatic Drying feature helps minimize air conditioning odors, although it may not completely eliminate every odor under all conditions.

  • To help protect the 12V battery, the drying cycle will not operate if the remaining battery charge is too low.
