Subaru Forester: Vehicle safety system / Crosswind Stability Control (CSC)

Crosswind Stability Control (CSC) works together with the ESC and MDPS systems to help the Kia Telluride remain stable when strong side winds affect vehicle balance or reduce tire traction. By assisting with steering input and braking intervention, the system helps the driver maintain the intended driving path during challenging wind conditions.

Operating condition(s)

• When driving across bridges or passing large trucks and buses, strong crosswinds can cause the vehicle to sway or feel unstable. In these situations, CSC automatically provides steering and stability assistance to help keep the Kia Telluride on its intended course.

• When the system is activated, the ESC indicator illuminates, an audible warning sounds, and a notification appears in the instrument cluster.

• During operation, you may notice slight steering wheel movement or mild vehicle vibration as the braking system and MDPS work together. This is a normal characteristic of CSC operation.

Non-operating condition(s)

Crosswind Stability Control may not activate or may temporarily cancel operation under the following conditions:

• Vehicle speed is below 45 mph (70 km/h) or above 112 mph (180 km/h).

• The driver makes a sharp steering maneuver.

• The brake pedal is pressed beyond a specified level.

• The Kia Telluride is traveling on rough pavement or slippery surfaces such as ice, snow, or rain-soaked roads.

• The ESC OFF indicator is illuminated because ESC has been switched to ESC OFF state 2.

• The ESC system is actively controlling vehicle stability.

• Other driver assistance systems, such as FCA, BCA, LKA, or LFA, are actively intervening.

Crosswind Stability Control (CSC) malfunction

• If the ESC system develops a fault, CSC will not operate.

• If the MDPS system has a malfunction, Crosswind Stability Control may provide only limited assistance.

• If either the ESC warning light or MDPS warning light remains illuminated or continues flashing, have your Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
