Subaru Forester: Vehicle safety system / Trailer Stability Assist (TSA)

Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) functions as an extension of the vehicle's stability control system to help the Kia Telluride maintain stability while towing. If trailer sway or oscillation is detected, TSA automatically intervenes to reduce instability and improve directional control.

Trailer sway is more likely to occur at higher speeds, but it may also develop because of strong crosswinds, turbulence from passing vehicles, or improper trailer loading.

The following factors can contribute to trailer sway:

  • High driving speeds.

  • Strong crosswinds.

  • Improper trailer loading or weight distribution.

  • Sudden steering corrections or abrupt steering inputs.

  • Uneven or irregular road surfaces.

TSA continuously monitors both the Kia Telluride and the attached trailer for signs of instability. If trailer sway is detected, the system automatically applies braking force where needed to help stabilize the combination. Once stability has been restored, the intervention ends automatically.

WARNING

Trailer Stability Assist provides additional support but cannot overcome unsafe driving practices or improper trailer loading. The driver remains responsible for maintaining vehicle control, holding the steering wheel securely, and reducing speed whenever trailer sway is detected.

Vehicle auto shut-off system: (if equipped)

The Vehicle Auto Shut-off system automatically switches the Kia Telluride off after a user-selected period of idling. This feature is intended to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, conserve energy, and help minimize the risk associated with prolonged engine operation, including carbon monoxide exp..
