If your engine experiences overheating due to low fluid volume, pouring cold coolant rapidly into a hot engine can induce severe thermal shock, potentially cracking the engine block or cylinder head. To safely avoid thermal stress damage, pour the coolant mixture in very slowly and in small, controlled quantities.
Never operate the vehicle without adequate engine coolant present in the system. Running the engine dry will result in swift water pump failure, severe thermal warping, and eventual engine seizure.

Never attempt to unscrew or remove the engine coolant reservoir cap while the engine is running or still hot. Opening a hot cooling system can compromise system pressure and cause scalding hot coolant fluid or high-pressure steam to erupt, resulting in severe personal burns and injury.
Turn off the ignition and allow the engine bay to cool down completely before servicing. When handling the engine coolant reservoir cap, exercise extreme caution: wrap a thick cloth or towel over the cap, then slowly turn it counterclockwise to its first stop. Step back slightly while built-up pressure safely vents out of the cooling system.
Once you are completely certain that all residual residual pressure has fully dissipated, press down firmly on the cap using the thick towel and continue turning counterclockwise to remove it completely.
Even with the engine turned off, avoid removing the coolant reservoir cap or opening any lower radiator drain plugs while the engine assembly remains hot. High thermal pressure can still force scalding liquid or steam outward without warning.
CAUTION

The electric radiator cooling fan motor operates dynamically based on engine coolant temperature, air conditioning system pressure, and vehicle travel speed. As a result, the cooling fan may suddenly activate even when the engine is turned off. To prevent severe injury from rotating fan blades, keep hands, tools, and clothing well clear of the fan assembly whenever working under the hood. As coolant temperatures naturally decline, the electric motor will automatically shut down as part of its normal operational cycle.
Note that the electric cooling fan motor may remain active or cycle on until the negative battery cable is fully disconnected.
Carefully inspect the physical condition, flexibility, and connection clamps of all cooling system hoses and heater lines. Replace any hoses exhibiting soft spots, excessive swelling, severe hardening, or visual rubber degradation.
Under cold engine conditions, the liquid level inside the translucent reservoir should rest comfortably between the MAX and MIN (F and L) side markings on your Kia Telluride.
If the fluid level drops near or below the lower line, top off the reservoir with distilled (deionized) water or a pre-mixed approved coolant solution until the level reaches the MAX (F) line. Be careful not to overfill past the maximum indicator mark.
If you observe a persistent drop in fluid level requiring frequent coolant refills, have the entire cooling system leak-tested and inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
NOTE

When topping off or mixing new coolant, use exclusively deionized or distilled water for your vehicle. Never mix hard tap water or mineral-rich spring water into the factory coolant system, as mineral deposits can clog internal radiator passages and cause severe thermal damage.
The engine constructed for your vehicle utilizes specialized aluminum engine components and requires protection from an ethylene-glycol, phosphate-based coolant formulation specifically designed to prevent internal galvanic corrosion, scale buildup, and freezing.
Never introduce alcohol or methanol-based anti-freeze mixtures into the system, and do not blend unapproved chemical products with the specified coolant.
Do not use a coolant mixture exceeding 60% antifreeze or containing less than 35% antifreeze by volume, as improper concentration ratios significantly impair thermal heat transfer and compromise freezing protection.

Do not attempt to open or remove the engine coolant reservoir cap when the engine and radiator are at elevated operating temperatures. Pressurized scalding liquid and superheated steam can discharge forcefully, posing a serious threat of severe thermal burns and injury.
For complete fluid replacements and system flushes, have the cooling system serviced by an authorized Kia dealer to guarantee proper bleeding and thermal performance.
