Subaru Forester: Interior features / Floor mat anchors

Floor mat anchor posts on the driver-side carpet of the Kia Telluride

When placing a floor mat on the front carpeting, always ensure that it is properly secured to the vehicle’s integrated floor mat anchors. This system is designed to prevent the mat from sliding forward and interfering with vehicle operation.

WARNING

Aftermarket floor mat

  • Do not install any aftermarket floor mats that lack the proper design to attach securely to the Kia Telluride factory floor mat anchors. Loose or improperly secured mats are a significant safety hazard, as they can interfere with the operation of the brake and accelerator pedals.

  • Use only floor mats that fit properly, are not excessively thick, and can be firmly secured. Before installation, you must remove the protective plastic film from the carpets, as failing to do so can weaken the grip of the fixed rings, leading to unstable mats. The driver’s side is particularly critical; an unsecured mat can cause unintended acceleration or hinder your ability to brake, potentially leading to a collision or serious injury. Always double-check that all plastic films have been completely removed prior to installing your mats.

When installing ANY floor mat, please adhere to these vital safety guidelines:

  • Confirm that the floor mats are locked onto the Kia Telluride floor mat anchors before you begin driving.

  • Never attempt to use a floor mat that cannot be firmly and safely attached to the anchor points.

  • Do not layer or stack floor mats—for example, do not place a rubber all-weather mat directly on top of a carpeted mat. Only one single floor mat should be installed in each seating position at any time.
