The LATCH system is designed to simplify Child Restraint System installation while reducing the possibility of incorrect installation. Instead of using the vehicle's seat belt to secure the CRS, the system utilizes dedicated anchor points built into the Kia Telluride together with matching connectors on compatible child seats.
Each LATCH seating position includes two lower metal anchor bars that are permanently integrated into the vehicle structure. These anchors are specifically designed to accept Child Restraint Systems equipped with compatible lower anchor attachments.
To install a CRS using the LATCH system, the child restraint itself must be equipped with LATCH connectors.
Always refer to the child restraint manufacturer's instructions for the correct procedure when attaching the CRS to the vehicle's lower anchors.

On the Kia Telluride, LATCH anchors are provided for the left and right outboard rear seating positions only. Their locations are illustrated above. The center rear seating position is not equipped with lower LATCH anchors.
WARNING
LATCH lower anchors
Never attempt to install a LATCH-equipped Child Restraint System in the center rear seating position using the lower anchors. These anchors are intended exclusively for the left and right outboard rear seats. Misusing the anchors could damage them or cause them to fail during a collision.
The lower anchor position indicator symbols on the rear seatbacks identify the locations of the lower anchors for easier installation (see arrows in the illustration).

The lower anchors are positioned between the rear seat cushion and the seatback in both left and right outboard rear seating positions.
