If Blind-Spot Safety is turned OFF, always check the mirrors, look over your shoulder when needed, and drive with extra awareness of surrounding traffic.

• Do not use the system when

  Collision-avoidance Assist (while departing)

  Emergency Braking

  When the Kia Telluride determines that a collision is likely while you are pulling away, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist warns you through the outside rearview mirror indicator, the head-up display (if equipped), an audible alert, and steering wheel vibration. If the collision risk continues to increase, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help reduce the chance of striking a vehicle approaching from the blind-spot area.

  Collision-avoidance Assist may operate under the following conditions:

  • Your vehicle speed is below approximately 2 mph (3 km/h).

  • The vehicle approaching within the blind spot is traveling above approximately 3 mph (5 km/h).

  • The transmission is in any gear except R (Reverse) or P (Park).

  • The system determines that a collision with the detected vehicle is likely if no action is taken.

  Drive carefully

  If Emergency Braking brings the Kia Telluride to a stop, a warning message is displayed on the instrument cluster. For your safety, immediately press the brake pedal, remain aware of surrounding traffic, and confirm that it is safe before continuing to drive.

  Automatic brake control is released approximately 2 seconds after Emergency Braking has stopped the vehicle.

  WARNING

  • Collision-Avoidance Assist will be canceled in the following situations:

    • Your vehicle travels a certain distance into the adjacent lane.

    • Your vehicle moves away from the direction where the collision risk exists.

    • You turn the steering wheel sharply.

    • You press the brake pedal.

    • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist becomes active.

  • After Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist intervenes, or after completing a lane change, guide the Kia Telluride back toward the center of the lane. Continuing to drive close to the lane marking may prevent the function from operating again.

  • Adjust Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist settings only after the vehicle has been safely parked.

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may not display a warning message or produce an audible alert if another driver assistance system is already providing a warning.

  • Warning sounds may be difficult to hear in loud environments. Keep the audio system at a reasonable volume and stay attentive to surrounding traffic.

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may not intervene if you are already applying the brakes to avoid a collision.

  • During automatic braking, brake control may be canceled if you press the accelerator aggressively or make a sudden steering input.

  • Because the vehicle may stop abruptly during system intervention, all occupants should wear seat belts and loose cargo should always be properly secured.

  • If this function develops a fault, the Kia Telluride's normal braking system continues to operate normally.

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist cannot detect every hazardous situation and may not be capable of preventing every collision.

  • Depending on road, traffic, and environmental conditions, warnings may occur later than expected or may not be provided.

  • The driver remains fully responsible for safely operating the Kia Telluride. Always monitor surrounding traffic and never rely exclusively on the system.

  • Never intentionally depend on Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist to avoid contact with people, animals, vehicles, or other objects. Doing so could result in serious injury or death.

  WARNING

  If the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system is in one of the following conditions, automatic braking assistance may not operate even if a warning message appears on the instrument cluster.

  • The ESC warning light remains illuminated.

  • The ESC system is actively controlling the vehicle for another function.
