Subaru Forester: Warning and indicator / Door open warning light

The warning light illuminates if any door or
the rear gate is not fully closed. This
function is effective even if the ignition
switch is in the “LOCK”/“OFF” or “ACC”
position, or the key is removed from the
ignition switch.
For some models, only the open doors are
indicated by the warning lights.
Always make sure this light is not illuminated
before you start to drive.

Before going down a steep hill, slow
down and shift to a lower gear (if necessary,
use 1st gear) in order to utilize the
engine braking effect and prevent overheating
of your vehicle’s brakes. Do not
make sudden downshifts.
When driving uphill in hot weather, the
air conditioner may turn off automatically
to protect the engine from overheating...
Park the vehicle on a level surface and
turn the ignition switch to the “LOCK”/
“OFF” position. If you check the oil level
just after turning the ignition switch to the
“LOCK”/“OFF” position, wait for at least 5
minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil
pan before checking the level...
