Your Kia Telluride may be equipped with a sophisticated Gentex Automatic-Dimming Mirror, which seamlessly integrates the HomeLink® Wireless Control System. This advanced feature is designed to enhance both your driving comfort and home convenience, ensuring a premium experience every time you take the wheel.

During nighttime excursions, the mirror automatically detects and mitigates distracting glare from headlights behind you, significantly improving visibility and safety. Beyond its primary function as a rearview mirror, the integrated HomeLink® Universal Transceiver provides the power to effortlessly control garage doors, electric entry gates, home lighting systems, and other radio-frequency compatible devices directly from your driver's seat.

Automatic-Dimming Night Vision Safety™ (NVS®) Mirror: (if equipped)

The NVS® mirror technology is engineered to monitor ambient light levels both in front of and behind your Kia Telluride, automatically adjusting the tint to reduce glare. For this system to function at its peak, it is essential to keep the light sensors clear. Please ensure that no objects, accessories, or stickers obstruct these sensors, as doing so will negatively affect the automatic dimming control feature's responsiveness.

Your mirror is programmed to dim automatically the moment it detects excessive glare from vehicles traveling behind you, allowing you to remain focused on the road ahead. For your convenience, the mirror defaults to the ON position every time you start the Kia Telluride.

Integrated HomeLink® Wireless Control System

The HomeLink® Wireless Control System provides a clean, clutter-free cabin by allowing you to consolidate up to 3 separate handheld radio-frequency (RF) transmitters into one intuitive interface. You can easily link this system to a variety of home automation devices, including residential gate operators, garage door openers, electronic entry door locks, security systems, and smart home lighting.

The following procedures guide you through the process of programming your HomeLink® system. 1. Programming Preparation
   1. When programming a garage door opener for your Kia Telluride, it is highly advised to park the vehicle outside the garage area to ensure safety and signal integrity.
   2. We recommend installing a fresh battery in your handheld remote transmitter before starting, as this ensures a strong, stable radio-frequency signal for quicker and more accurate synchronization with the HomeLink® system.
   3. To begin the programming, ensure the ignition in your Kia Telluride is set to the ACC position by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button.
2. Programming a New HomeLink® Button
   1. Press and hold the specific HomeLink® button you wish to program (choose from 1, 2, or 3). The HomeLink® indicator light (7) will begin to flash orange slowly. If it fails to flash, please perform the steps outlined in the “Erasing HomeLink® Buttons” section and restart the process.
   2. Hold your garage door opener remote approximately 1–3 inches (2–8 cm) away from the HomeLink® button array on the mirror.
   3. While the HomeLink® indicator light (7) is still flashing orange, press and hold the button on your hand-held remote. Maintain pressure on the remote button until the HomeLink® indicator light (7) transitions from flashing orange to a steady green. You may now release the hand-held remote button.
   4. Allow your garage door to come to a complete, final stop, regardless of its position, before moving on to the subsequent steps.
   5. Press and release the HomeLink® button you just programmed and observe the indicator light.

      If the light remains a solid green, your device is successfully synced and should operate immediately upon pressing the button. If so, your programming is complete.

      If the indicator light instead flashes green rapidly, firmly press the HomeLink® button, hold for 2 seconds, and then release. Repeat this sequence up to three times slowly. Be careful not to press the button too rapidly. If the device begins to operate, the programming is complete. If not, please continue to the next step.

   6. Move to your garage door opener motor, security gate motor, or relevant system unit and locate the “Learn,” “Smart,” “Set,” or “Program” button. This is typically located near the hanging antenna wire (1) attached to the motor-head unit; consult your specific device manual for confirmation, as the appearance and color of this button vary by manufacturer.

      Using a ladder or having a second person assist you may simplify these steps.

   7. Firmly press and release the “Learn” (or equivalent) button. You have a window of up to 30 seconds to complete the following step.
   8. Return to your Kia Telluride and firmly press the programmed HomeLink® button. Hold it for 2 seconds and release it; repeat this up to 3 times slowly. Do not press the button rapidly. As soon as the garage door begins to move, stop pressing any buttons and wait a few seconds after the door comes to a complete, full stop. Programming is now complete, and your device should operate reliably using the HomeLink® button.

If your garage door opener features the “myQ” logo, it is equipped with Two-Way Communication capability. HomeLink® is capable of establishing this advanced connection, allowing the mirror to receive and display real-time status messages, such as “closing” or “opening,” directly from your compatible garage door opener. Additionally, you can recall and display the last recorded status to confirm if your garage door is currently “closed” or “opened.”

To verify if your specific garage door opener is compatible with this enhanced feature, please refer to www.homelink.com/support. If your opener supports it and the Two-Way Communication indicators (4) and (6) appear on the mirror during operation, no further action is required. However, if these indicators do not appear, you must enable this functionality manually using the instructions below.

3. In your Kia Telluride, press and hold the already programmed HomeLink® button for 2 seconds, then release it. Verify that the garage door starts to move. Once it comes to a complete stop, you have exactly 1 minute to complete the following steps:

   Again, a ladder or a second person may simplify these steps.

   1. On the garage door opener unit inside your garage, locate the “Learn” button (usually found near the antenna wire). Refer to your owner’s manual if you have difficulty locating it.
   2. Press and release the “Learn” button.
   3. A light on the garage door opener may flash, and the Two-Way Communication indicators (4) and (6) on your mirror may flash as well, confirming the process was successful.
   4. Return to your vehicle and firmly press and release the programmed HomeLink® button to activate the door. The Two-Way Communication indicators (4) and (6) should now flash orange while the door is in motion. Do not press any additional buttons until the garage door has come to a full, complete stop.

      Your Two-Way Communication programming is now successfully complete.

      TIP

      If your opener supports Two-Way Communication but the programming was not completed correctly, HomeLink® may cease operation of the garage door shortly after initial setup, typically after the first 10 uses. If you encounter this, simply repeat the “Programming a New HomeLink® Button” and “Two-Way Communication programming” procedures to restore full functionality.

4. Canadian Programming

   Due to specific Canadian radio-frequency regulations, some transmitter remote signals are programmed to “time out” or cease transmission after only a couple of seconds. This duration may be insufficient for the HomeLink® system in your Kia Telluride to successfully capture the signal during the standard programming phase.

   If you reside in Canada or are experiencing persistent difficulty programming a gate or garage door operator, replace step 3 of the “Programming a New HomeLink® Button” procedure with the following:

   While the HomeLink® indicator light (7) is flashing orange, press and release (or “cycle”) your device’s handheld remote button every two seconds until the HomeLink® indicator light (7) transitions from orange to solid green. Once this change occurs, release the handheld remote button and proceed to step 4 of the “Programming a New HomeLink® Button” section.

2. Operating HomeLink®

1. Operating HomeLink®
   1. Simply press and release the programmed HomeLink® button (1, 2, or 3) to activate your linked device.

      TIP

      The HomeLink® indicator (7) should light up in green (either solid or flashing), confirming that the signal is being sent and your device should operate.

      If the device fails to respond, it indicates that the HomeLink® programming may not have been successful, and you will need to repeat the programming procedure for that button.

2. Two-Way Communication Display Behavior
   1. Press and release one of the programmed HomeLink® buttons (1, 2, or 3).
   2. If your garage door opener supports Two-Way Communication, the indicators (4) and (6) will provide visual feedback:

      • If the indicator (4) flashes orange, the garage door is currently closing.

      • The indicator (4) will turn solid green once the garage door has successfully closed.

      • If the indicator (6) flashes orange, the garage door is currently opening.

      • The indicator (6) will turn solid green once the garage door has fully opened.

      • If neither indicator (4) nor (6) turns green, the latest status signal from the door was not received correctly. The HomeLink® mirror will continue attempting to retrieve the last known door status for several seconds.

3. Recalling Garage Door Status

   The HomeLink® mirror system allows you to manually recall the last recorded message from your garage door opener. To check the status of the last activated device, simultaneously press and hold buttons “1 and 2” OR “2 and 3.”

   • If indicator (4) glows solid green, the last activated device was closed successfully.

   • If indicator (6) glows solid green, the last activated device was opened successfully.

3. Erasing HomeLink® Buttons

1) Erasing and reprogramming a single HomeLink® button:

1. Press and hold the specific HomeLink® button you wish to reprogram. Do not release the button until instructed.

2. The HomeLink® indicator light (7) will glow solid green. As soon as the light begins to flash orange—which typically takes about 20 seconds—release the button.

3. You may now proceed with the steps outlined in the “Programming a new HomeLink® button” section to assign a new device.

TIP

2) Erasing ALL HomeLink® programming from ALL buttons:

1. Press and hold buttons (1) and (3) simultaneously.

2. The HomeLink® indicator light (7) will appear solid orange for approximately 10 seconds.

3. Once the HomeLink® indicator light (7) begins to flash green rapidly, release both buttons.

4. All three HomeLink® buttons (1, 2, and 3) are now cleared and ready for new programming.
