Please note that the physical layout, labeling, and installed circuits on your vehicle's fuse and relay panel diagram may vary depending on the specific trim level, engine configuration, and optional equipment fitted to your Kia Telluride.

Fuses act as essential safety barriers engineered to safeguard your vehicle’s sensitive electrical system and electronic control units from unexpected current surges, short circuits, and overload damage.

Your Kia Telluride is equipped with 2 (or 3) central fuse panels: an interior junction box conveniently located behind the lower driver-side instrument panel bolster, and additional main power distribution panels situated inside the engine compartment adjacent to the 12V battery.

If any exterior lighting, interior cabin accessories, power windows, or electronic controls fail to operate, systematically inspect the corresponding circuit fuse. When an electrical overload occurs, the internal metallic element inside the fuse melts to break the circuit and protect downstream components.

Whenever experiencing an electrical fault, begin your diagnostic check at the interior driver-side fuse panel before inspecting the main under-hood distribution box.

If a newly installed replacement fuse blows immediately upon circuit activation, it signifies a persistent electrical short circuit or severe wiring fault. Immediately stop using the affected system and contact an authorized Kia dealer for technical inspection.

The electrical network in your Kia Telluride utilizes 3 distinct fuse designs: compact blade-type fuses for lower amperage accessory circuits, cartridge-type fuses for medium-to-high current loads, and heavy-duty multi-fuse assemblies for primary power supply lines.

WARNING

Fuse replacement

  • Never replace a blown fuse with one of a different amperage rating. Installing a higher-capacity fuse allows excessive current to flow through the wiring, which can cause severe component overheating, melted insulation, and potentially an electrical vehicle fire.

  • Never bridge terminals using improvised conductive materials such as copper wire, paper clips, or aluminum foil in place of a proper automotive fuse, even as an emergency temporary repair. Bypassing safety protection can cause catastrophic wiring harness damage and severe vehicle fires.

  • Do not arbitrarily modify, splice, or add custom electrical wiring to the factory harness of your Kia Telluride.

WARNING

Electrical fire

Always ensure that replacement fuses, relays, and multi-fuse blocks are firmly seated and securely fastened when installed. Loose terminal connections create electrical resistance, causing extreme localized heat build-up that can result in a devastating vehicle fire.

Do not attempt to remove or loosen high-current fuses, relays, or main power terminals secured by mounting bolts or nuts. Incomplete or improper re-torquing of bolted connections creates severe high-resistance contact points that risk causing an electrical fire. If a bolted fuse or multi-fuse block blows, consult an authorized Kia dealer for professional replacement.

NOTE

  • Never insert foreign metal objects, tools, or bare wire probes—such as screwdrivers or testing leads—directly into the fuse panel or relay socket terminals. Doing so can bend internal spring contacts, causing permanent contact failure, loose connections, and system malfunctions.

  • Connecting aftermarket trailer wiring harnesses directly into the rear combination lamp circuits or fitting bulbs that exceed regulated power capacities can cause severe current overloads, potentially burning out the vehicle's interior junction block.

NOTE

  • Do not use a screwdriver or any other rigid metal tool to pry fuses out of their sockets. Metal tools can inadvertently bridge live contacts, creating a direct short circuit that damages delicate electronic modules in your Kia Telluride.

  • When installing a replacement fuse or relay, verify that its contact blades fit tightly and press fully home into the receiving spring clips. Failing to install a fuse or relay securely can generate erratic contact resistance, damaging connected wiring harnesses and electronic systems.

NOTE

Electrical wiring repairs

All electrical troubleshooting and wiring repairs on your Kia Telluride should be performed by certified technicians at an authorized Kia dealership using genuine factory-approved parts. Installing unverified electrical components or tapping into factory circuits—especially when retrofitting aftermarket multimedia head units, security alarms, remote starters, or two-way radios—can trigger electronic errors and dramatically increase the risk of an electrical fire.

NOTE

Rewiring prohibited

Do not alter, re-route, or bypass the factory electrical wiring on your vehicle in any way. Tampering with the harness can severely impair critical safety features, including advanced driver assistance systems and airbag deployment controls. Unauthorized wiring modifications may also void your vehicle warranty, leaving you financially responsible for subsequent electrical and mechanical repairs.

TIP

  • Before replacing any fuse, turn the vehicle ignition switch completely to the OFF position, turn off all electronic accessories and lighting controls, and disconnect the negative (-) 12V battery terminal to prevent accidental electrical arcing.

  • Always verify circuit locations against the physical decal applied to the fuse panel cover, as actual equipment variations across different Kia Telluride production runs may differ from general manual diagrams.
