Subaru Forester: Smart Cruise Control operation / Operating conditions

Basic function

Smart Cruise Control operates in the Kia Telluride only when the required driving and system conditions are satisfied:

  • The gear is in D (Drive).

  • The vehicle speed is within the available operating range:

    • When no vehicle is detected ahead: 5–120 mph (10–200 km/h)

    • When a vehicle is detected ahead: 0–120 mph (0–200 km/h)

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is ON.

Smart Cruise Control does not operate under the following conditions:

  • The driver’s door is open.

  • The engine RPM is high.

  • The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is engaged.

  • ESC or ABS is actively controlling the vehicle.

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist brake control is operating.

  • Remote Smart Parking Assist brake control is operating, if equipped.

  • The Kia Telluride is stopped or traveling below 5 mph (10 km/h) and no vehicle is detected ahead.

  • The brake pedal is pressed while driving, except when the vehicle is stopped.

TIP

When the Kia Telluride is stopped behind another vehicle, Smart Cruise Control can be turned on while the brake pedal is being pressed.

Overtaking Acceleration Assist function

Overtaking Acceleration Assist operates when the turn signal indicator is turned ON to the left in a left-hand-drive vehicle, or to the right in a right-hand-drive vehicle, while Smart Cruise Control is active and the following conditions are met:

  • The vehicle speed is above 40 mph (60 km/h).

  • A vehicle is detected ahead of you.

Overtaking Acceleration Assist does not operate under the following conditions:

  • The hazard warning lights are ON.

  • The vehicle has reduced speed to maintain the selected following distance from the vehicle ahead.

WARNING

  • When you turn the turn signal indicator ON to the left in a left-hand-drive vehicle, or to the right in a right-hand-drive vehicle, while a vehicle is detected ahead, the Kia Telluride may temporarily accelerate. Always monitor the road, surrounding traffic, and lane conditions before attempting to overtake.

  • Regardless of the driving direction used in your country, Overtaking Acceleration Assist operates when its conditions are satisfied. When using the function in a country with a different traffic direction, check road conditions carefully and remain fully responsible for safe vehicle control.
