Display and control

The operating status of Highway Driving Assist is shown in the Driving Assist view of the instrument cluster. For additional information about the display layout, refer to the LCD display modes section of your Kia Telluride owner's manual.

When Highway Driving Assist is available or active, the instrument cluster displays the following information:

Highway Driving Assist status indicator, along with the detected vehicle ahead and the selected following distance.
- Green: Function is actively assisting the driver.
- Gray: Function is available and in standby.
- White blinking: The accelerator pedal is currently being pressed by the driver.
- Unlit: Function is OFF.
Current Smart Cruise Control set speed.
Detection status of the vehicle ahead and the selected headway level.
Lane recognition status.
Lane Following Assist status indicator.

TIP

For additional details about the displayed symbols, colors, and operating indicators, refer to the Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Smart Cruise Control (SCC) sections.

The appearance of graphics and colors may differ depending on the instrument cluster type or the selected display theme in your Kia Telluride.

Turning on Highway Driving Assist

Highway Driving Assist can be activated when the following requirements are met:

Press the Drive Assist button while driving on a supported controlled-access highway to enable Highway Driving Assist.
If you enter the main highway while Smart Cruise Control is already operating, Highway Driving Assist will not activate unless Lane Following Assist is also turned ON.

Hands-off warning


	Keep hands on steering wheel

If the system detects that your hands have been removed from the steering wheel for several seconds, it will display a warning message and provide an audible alert in two progressive stages:

First stage: A visual warning message appears on the instrument cluster.
Second stage: A red steering wheel warning icon is displayed together with a more noticeable audible warning.

If the steering wheel continues to remain unattended, the Emergency Stop (ES) function may begin operating. For additional details, refer to the Emergency Stop (ES) section.

Driving to one side within lane: (if equipped)

When the Kia Telluride is traveling above 40 mph (60 km/h) and another vehicle is detected very close beside your lane, the system may gently position the vehicle toward the opposite side of the lane to help increase lateral clearance. If vehicles are traveling close on both sides simultaneously, the function will not shift the vehicle toward either side.

Highway Driving Assist standby

If Smart Cruise Control is temporarily canceled while Highway Driving Assist is active, Highway Driving Assist switches to standby mode. During this time, Lane Following Assist continues operating whenever its own operating conditions remain satisfied.

TIP

If Emergency Stop brings the vehicle to a stop, Highway Driving Assist must be reactivated before it can operate again.

On Kia Telluride models equipped with an interior camera, Highway Driving Assist performance may be limited whenever the driver's condition or attention cannot be properly detected.
