Subaru Forester: Highway Driving Assist operation / Highway Lane Change Assist (if equipped)

• When the Lane Change Assist function is ON, the Lane Following Assist feature will remain active even if you use the turn signal or hazard lights.

• Lane Change Assist will automatically deactivate if you enter any of the following conditions:

  • You are driving on a road with only one driving lane.

  • The road lacks physical center separation structures, such as median strips or guardrails.

  • The vehicle sensors detect a pedestrian or cyclist in the path ahead.

• If your speed drops below 15 mph (25 km/h) while the system is in the "Ready" state, the function will automatically shift into standby mode.

• While driving between 20-40 mph (30-60 km/h), if the Kia Telluride fails to detect vehicles in the adjacent lanes, the system will switch to standby.

• The status will immediately revert to standby if the sensors identify a potential risk of collision.

• Please note that visual styles, icons, or color palettes on the display may vary slightly depending on your specific instrument cluster configuration or selected digital theme.

Whenever the Highway Lane Change Assist system turns OFF, Steering Assist functionality will also be temporarily suspended. You must remain vigilant and ready to take full manual control of the steering at all times.

• When you move the turn signal lever to position (1), the system initiates. If you return the lever to the neutral position before the vehicle crosses the lane line, the maneuver will cancel.

  The system will not cancel after you have crossed the lane line; instead, it will conclude the maneuver and automatically turn the turn signal OFF once the lane change is finished.

• When the lever is held in position (2) for the required duration, the green arrow will appear on your display. The Kia Telluride will continue the maneuver even if you release the lever back to its neutral position.

• During the lane change, the turn signal indicator will continue to blink automatically even if you do not hold the lever, and it will shut off once the Kia Telluride has successfully centered itself in the new lane.

• Highway Lane Change Assist will be immediately canceled under any of the following circumstances:

  • You manually switch the Highway Driving Assist system OFF.

  • You turn OFF or pause the Lane Following Assist or Smart Cruise Control features.

  • The instrument cluster triggers a "hands-off" steering wheel warning message.

  • You engage the turn signal lever to the (1) position while in an active state.

  • You manually turn the vehicle's hazard lights ON.

  • A warning message from the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist or Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist is displayed.

  • The vehicle sensors detect a potential collision risk in the adjacent lane, even in the absence of a formal Collision-Avoidance Assist warning.

  • The target lane path comes to an end.

  • The system is unable to detect or map the target lane.

  • A technical fault is detected in the vehicle's turn signal lighting.

  • The feature is disabled in the vehicle settings menu, you enter a one-way road, an intersection or crosswalk is detected, a pedestrian/cyclist is in the driving path, or you move onto a road lacking physical lane-dividing structures like guardrails or medians.

  • Driving speed falls below 15 mph (25 km/h) while the system is in the "Ready" state.

  • Driving between 20-40 mph (30-60 km/h) without the vehicle detecting other traffic in the adjacent lanes.

  • The sensors detect an imminent risk of collision.

• Should you cancel the Highway Lane Change Assist while it is in the middle of a maneuver, the vehicle may automatically steer back toward the lane center or disengage steering assistance entirely depending on the current road conditions. Always maintain your focus on the road and stay prepared to intervene.

• Note that Highway Lane Change Assist may not function with standard precision on roads frequented by pedestrians or cyclists, such as near intersections or marked crosswalks.
