Subaru Forester: Highway Driving Assist (HDA): (if equipped) / Highway Driving Assist malfunction and limitations

• The driver is always responsible for maintaining full control of the vehicle and operating it safely under all traffic and road conditions.

• Keep both hands on the steering wheel whenever Highway Driving Assist is active or available.

• Highway Driving Assist is designed to support the driver, not replace attentive driving. It is not an autonomous driving system and cannot make decisions in every situation. Always monitor surrounding traffic and be prepared to intervene immediately.

• Maintain continuous attention to the road. Compliance with traffic laws and safe vehicle operation remain entirely the driver's responsibility. Kia Telluride driver assistance systems cannot prevent every violation or accident.

• Highway Driving Assist may not detect every roadway condition or traffic hazard. Because of system limitations, it may fail to recognize certain vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, roadside structures, guardrails, toll booths, or unexpected obstacles. Always observe your surroundings carefully.

• Highway Driving Assist automatically turns OFF in situations including:

  • Driving on roads where the function is not supported, such as rest areas, intersections, highway junctions, or similar locations.

  • Temporary interruptions of the navigation system, including software updates, restarts, or other navigation-related issues.

• Depending on road geometry, navigation information, weather, or surrounding traffic, Highway Driving Assist may activate unexpectedly, provide limited assistance, or automatically switch OFF.

• Lane Following Assist may become temporarily unavailable whenever lane markings cannot be recognized clearly or a hands-off warning is displayed.

• Warning sounds may be difficult to hear in particularly noisy driving environments.

• When negotiating curves at higher speeds, the Kia Telluride may move closer to one side of the lane or approach the lane boundary. Always maintain steering control.

• If you are towing a trailer or another vehicle, switch Highway Driving Assist OFF before driving.

• The timing of the hands-off warning may vary depending on steering input, road surface conditions, and vehicle movement. Do not rely on the warning as a reminder to hold the steering wheel.

• Read and understand the Kia Telluride owner's manual before using Highway Driving Assist so you are familiar with its operation and limitations.

• Highway Driving Assist is unavailable immediately after the vehicle is started or whenever the navigation system or detection sensors are initializing.
