Lane Keeping Assist malfunction

Check Driver Assistance system

If Lane Keeping Assist detects a malfunction, the Master warning light () and the yellow Lane Keeping Assist indicator () illuminate on the instrument cluster together with a warning message.

If this message appears, have the Lane Keeping Assist system on your Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

Lane Keeping Assist disabled

Driver Assistance system limited. Camera obscured.

If the front view camera or related sensor area is covered by snow, rain, dirt, ice, or other foreign material, Lane Keeping Assist may be unable to detect lane markings correctly. In these conditions, the system may become temporarily limited or automatically disabled.

When this occurs, a warning message appears together with the Master warning light () and the Lane Safety warning indicator () on the instrument cluster. This behavior is considered normal when sensor visibility is restricted.

Lane Keeping Assist should resume normal operation after snow, rain, dirt, or other foreign material has been removed from the windshield and camera area. Keeping the sensor area clean helps maintain reliable performance.

If Lane Keeping Assist continues to operate improperly after cleaning the sensor area or after removing obstructions such as a trailer or carrier from the rear of the vehicle, have your Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Limitations of Lane Keeping Assist

Lane Keeping Assist may not operate correctly or may respond unexpectedly under certain road, weather, or traffic conditions, including but not limited to the following situations:

• The lane markings or road edge are difficult to detect because:

  • Lane markings or road edges are covered by rain, snow, dirt, oil, or other contaminants.

  • The road surface is wet, causing poor contrast between the pavement and lane markings.

  • Nearby markings or road edges resemble lane markings and may confuse the detection system.

  • The lane markings or road edge are faded, damaged, or difficult to distinguish.

  • Shadows from median barriers, guardrails, noise barriers, roadside vegetation, or surrounding vehicles cover the lane markings.

  • A long object is lying across or alongside the roadway.

  • Longitudinal cracks in the pavement resemble lane markings.

• The number of lanes increases or decreases, or lane markings split, merge, or intersect.

• More than two lane markings or road edges are detected.

• Complex lane markings or temporary traffic control devices, such as those found in construction zones, interfere with lane recognition.

• Crosswalk markings, painted symbols, or other road markings are present.

• The lane disappears suddenly, such as at an intersection.

• The roadway or lane is unusually wide or narrow.

• A road edge exists without clearly marked lane lines.

• Roadside structures such as toll booths, curbs, sidewalks, or similar boundaries are present.

• You are driving very close behind another vehicle that obscures the lane markings or road edge.

• Driving through sharp curves.

• Driving in a bus-only lane or in the lane immediately next to a bus-only lane.
