Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist on the Kia Telluride may function differently than expected or become temporarily limited under certain driving, weather, or environmental conditions. Driver awareness remains essential whenever these situations occur.

• Driving in severe weather, including heavy rain, snow, or similar conditions.

• The rear corner radar sensors are covered by snow, mud, rain, dirt, or other contaminants.

• Extremely high or low temperatures around the detection sensors.

• The sensors are temporarily blocked while driving close to another vehicle, wall, pillar, or similar object.

• Driving on highway entrance or exit ramps, or passing through toll plazas.

• The road surface contains unusually high metallic content, such as construction debris or embedded metal.

• Nearby roadside structures such as guardrails, concrete barriers, sound walls, tunnels, streetlights, signs, central dividers, or retaining walls interfere with radar detection.

• Driving on narrow roads bordered by dense trees, bushes, or vegetation.

• Operating in wide open areas with very few surrounding vehicles or structures, such as deserts, plains, or rural outskirts.

• Driving on wet pavement where reflections may influence sensor performance.

• Vehicles are traveling very closely behind your Kia Telluride or overtaking it.

• Nearby vehicles are passing at significantly higher speeds.

• You are overtaking another vehicle.

• You are changing lanes.

• Your vehicle and an adjacent vehicle accelerate at nearly the same time.

• A vehicle moves from the adjacent lane to a lane farther away, or another vehicle moves from two lanes away into the adjacent lane.

• A trailer, cargo carrier, or similar accessory is installed near the rear corner radar.

• Objects such as bumper protectors, decals, bicycle racks, or similar accessories cover the bumper near the rear radar sensors.

• The front or rear bumper has been damaged, or the radar sensor alignment has changed.

• Snow chains are installed or tires/wheels with non-standard specifications are used.

• The vehicle height changes because of heavy cargo, incorrect tire pressure, or uneven loading.

• The following types of objects are detected:

  • Motorcycles or bicycles.

  • Vehicles towing flat-bed trailers.

  • Large vehicles such as buses or heavy trucks.

  • Moving objects including pedestrians, animals, shopping carts, or strollers.

  • Low-profile vehicles such as sports cars.

Exercise additional caution because automatic braking assistance may not operate under the following conditions:

• The vehicle experiences severe vibration while traveling over potholes, rough pavement, or uneven roads.

• You are driving on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice, water, or slush.

• Tire pressure is significantly low or the tires are damaged.

• The vehicle's braking system has been modified.

• You make sudden or aggressive steering inputs.
