The following owner maintenance schedules outline essential visual inspections, fluid checks, and mechanical verifications that should be carried out by the driver or an authorized Kia dealer at designated intervals to maintain the safe, efficient, and dependable operation of your Kia Telluride.

If you observe any abnormal operating conditions, unusual mechanical noises, or fluid leaks, report them to an authorized dealership immediately for professional diagnosis and repair.

Routine owner maintenance checks are generally not covered under factory warranty terms, meaning labor charges, replacement components, and specialized lubricants used during these inspections are the owner's responsibility.

Owner maintenance schedule

When you stop for fuel:

• Verify the engine coolant level in the translucent reservoir tank to ensure it remains between the designated indicator lines.

• Inspect the windshield washer fluid reservoir level and top off with rated washer fluid as needed for optimal visibility.

• Visually inspect all tires for low air pressure, structural sidewall bulging, or signs of underinflation before driving.

• Check the front grille area, radiator core, and air conditioning condenser to ensure they remain clear of accumulating leaves, road debris, mud, and insects. If these cooling assemblies appear heavily clogged or damaged, have your Kia Telluride serviced promptly at an authorized Kia dealer.

While operating your vehicle:

• Pay close attention to any changes in exhaust sound pitch or any unusual smell of exhaust fumes inside the cabin during travel.

• Monitor for abnormal steering wheel vibrations, increased steering effort, mechanical play in the steering column, or changes in the center alignment position when driving straight.

• Observe whether your Kia Telluride continuously strays off course, pulls to one side, or drifts laterally while traveling on a flat, smooth, level road surface.

• Listen for squealing or grinding noises when applying the brakes, and check for vehicle pulling, extended pedal travel, or unusual resistance when depressing the brake pedal.

• If you experience transmission gear slipping, delayed engagement, or harsh shifting behavior, have the vehicle inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

• Verify that the P (Park) transmission lock holds the vehicle completely stationary on an incline without rolling.

• Check the mechanical holding strength and electronic engagement of the parking brake system.

• Check the ground beneath the parked vehicle for fresh oil, fuel, or coolant leaks (note that clear water condensation dripping from the air conditioning evaporator drain tube during or after operation is normal).

At least monthly:

• Check the coolant level in the expansion tank while the engine is completely cold to confirm proper fluid volume.

• Test the operational condition of all exterior lighting components, including headlights, brake lights, turn signals, reverse lights, and emergency hazard flashers.

• Measure cold tire inflation pressures across all four tires and the spare using an accurate gauge, checking simultaneously for tread wear indicators, uneven tread wear, or embedded objects.

• Check all wheel lug nuts to ensure none are loose, missing, or damaged.

At least once every 6 months:

• Inspect all underhood radiator, cabin heater, and air conditioning system hoses for signs of surface cracking, swelling, hardening, or fluid seepage.

• Verify windshield washer spray nozzle alignment and wiper arm operation, wiping the rubber wiper blades clean with a soft cloth dampened with washer fluid.

• Check headlamp beam alignment to ensure proper night road illumination without dazzling oncoming traffic.

• Inspect the exhaust system undercarriage, including the muffler, tailpipes, heat shields, and mounting clamps, for rust, physical damage, or loose hardware.

• Examine seat belt webbing straps, latches, retractors, and mounting anchors for fraying, operational wear, or binding.

At least once a year:

• Clean out all body panel and lower door drain holes to prevent water accumulation and internal door rust.

• Lubricate the mechanical door hinges and check hood hinge pivot points for smooth articulation.

• Apply proper lubricant to door, hood, and liftgate lock mechanisms and latch assemblies.

• Apply rubber protective lubricant to all door and body weather strips to prevent drying, cracking, or sticking.

• Have the air conditioning system checked for cooling efficiency and proper refrigerant operation.

• Inspect and lubricate accessible transmission linkage components and gear shift selector controls.

• Clean corrosion buildup from the 12V battery casing, terminal posts, and wire clamps.

• Check the brake fluid reservoir level to verify it is within specified limits.
