Subaru Forester: Warning and indicator / Seatbelt warning light and chime

With the ignition switch turned to the “ON”
position, this device reminds the driver and
front passenger to fasten their seatbelts by
illuminating the warning lights in the locations
indicated in the following illustration
and sounding a chime...

CAUTION
For models equipped with the
BSD (Blind Spot Detection) and
RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert)
driving support systems, when
towing a trailer, press the BSD/
RCTA OFF switch to deactivate
the system. The system may not
operate properly due to the
blocked radar waves...
Sit well back in the seat.
Pick up the tongue plate and pull the
belt out slowly. Do not let it get twisted.
If the belt stops before reaching the
buckle, return the belt slightly and pull it
out more slowly.
If the belt still cannot be unlocked, let
the belt retract slightly after giving it a
strong pull, then pull it out slowly again...
