Subaru Forester: Keys / Smart key

The Kia Telluride smart key combines the functions of a mechanical key with advanced remote features, allowing you to lock or unlock the doors and start the vehicle without inserting the key into the ignition.

The smart key communicates wirelessly with the Kia Telluride whenever it is within approximately 33 ft. (10 m) of the vehicle. Interior antennas detect the presence of the registered smart key, enabling convenient access and vehicle operation.

Window tint, particularly metallic or metalized film, may interfere with radio signal transmission and reduce the operating range or performance of the smart key.

Lock (1)

Press the lock button while the smart key is within operating range to lock all doors. After every door is completely closed, the hazard warning lights flash once and the chime sounds once to confirm that the vehicle has been locked successfully.

If you press the lock button again after the doors have already been locked, the hazard warning lights will flash once more and the chime will sound again, confirming the current locked status.

If one or more doors remain open or the smart key is outside the operating range, the hazard warning lights and/or warning chime will not provide a lock confirmation. Once all doors are properly closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once to indicate successful locking.

Unlock (2)

Press the unlock button once to unlock the driver's door. The hazard warning lights will flash twice and the chime will sound twice to indicate that the driver's door has been unlocked.

Press the unlock button a second time to unlock all remaining doors. The hazard warning lights will flash twice again to confirm that every door has been unlocked.

If no door is opened within 30 seconds after unlocking the vehicle, the doors will automatically lock again for added security.

The smart key lock and unlock buttons will not operate under the following conditions:

• When the vehicle is in the ACC or ON position.

• When you attempt to lock the vehicle while one or more doors remain open.

Depending on the vehicle configuration, the driver can enable or disable the two-press unlock function through the infotainment system settings. Refer to the separately supplied infotainment system manual for detailed instructions.

TIP

Liftgate unlock, Power liftgate open/close (3): (if equipped)

Press and hold the liftgate button for more than one second to unlock the liftgate or automatically open the power liftgate, if equipped.

When the power liftgate is already open, press and hold the same button to close it. Releasing the button while the liftgate is moving will stop its operation, and a warning chime will sound for approximately five seconds.

The liftgate open/close button operates only when the registered smart key is within approximately 40 in. (1 m) of the liftgate.

On Kia Telluride models equipped with a power liftgate, the liftgate opens automatically when the required operating conditions are satisfied.

Panic alarm (4)

Press and hold the panic alarm button for more than one second to activate the horn and flashing hazard warning lights for approximately 30 seconds. Press any button on the smart key to cancel the alarm before it ends automatically.

Remote smart parking assist (RSPA) (5, 6): (if equipped)

Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) helps the driver maneuver the Kia Telluride into or out of a parking space. Using ultrasonic sensors, the system assists with steering, gear selection, and vehicle speed during parking maneuvers. The forward and backward buttons (5 and 6) on the smart key allow the driver to move the vehicle remotely while standing outside. Remote start (7): (if equipped)

The engine can be started remotely using the smart key's remote start button, allowing the Kia Telluride to begin operating before you enter the vehicle.

To remotely start the vehicle:

1. Lock all doors by pressing the door lock button (1) while standing within approximately 33 ft. (10 m) of the vehicle.

2. Within four seconds after locking the doors, press and hold the remote start button for at least two seconds. The hazard warning lights will flash three times to indicate that the engine has started successfully.

Press the remote start button (7) once to turn the engine off remotely.

If no further action is taken, the engine will automatically shut off approximately 10 minutes after being started remotely.

While the remote start function is active, the hazard warning lights flash three times during startup. To stop the engine before the automatic shutoff, press the remote start button (7) again.

Start while inside the vehicle

You can also start your Kia Telluride while seated inside the vehicle, provided the registered smart key is being carried with you or is located inside the passenger compartment.
