Should emergency towing become necessary, always rely on an authorized Kia dealer or a professional commercial tow-truck service equipped with appropriate recovery equipment.

Adhering to proper lifting and transport procedures is essential to prevent costly mechanical damage to the drivetrain and bodywork. Utilizing a flatbed car carrier or placing auxiliary wheel dollies (1) under the rolling wheels is the strongly recommended method for transporting your vehicle safely.

WARNING

Side and curtain air bag

If your Kia Telluride is equipped with side and curtain airbags, switch the ignition ignition switch or engine start button to the ACC position whenever the vehicle is being towed. Leaving the ignition in the ON position creates a safety hazard, as the onboard rollover sensor may interpret vehicle tilt and movement as an active rollover event, potentially triggering unwanted deployment of the side curtain airbags.

NOTE

An All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicle must never be towed with any of its wheels rolling directly on the ground. Always ensure the vehicle is transported on a flatbed car transporter or supported by auxiliary wheel dollies under all four wheels. Towing an AWD model with its wheels on the pavement will cause severe, irreversible thermal and mechanical damage to the transmission and integrated AWD coupling system.

NOTE

  • Shift the transmission selector to N (Neutral) whenever towing the vehicle with its tires touching the roadway. For complete operational guidelines, consult the detailed procedures outlined in the Automatic Transmission (AT) section.

  • If the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) fails to disengage through normal control inputs, refrain from forcing the vehicle to move. Transport your Kia Telluride directly to an authorized Kia service center by securing it onto a flatbed tow truck, where qualified technicians can diagnose and resolve the electronic brake fault.
