The rain sensor, positioned near the upper portion of the windshield, continuously detects the amount of rainfall and automatically adjusts the wiping interval. As precipitation becomes heavier, the wipers operate more frequently. When the rain stops, the wiping cycle automatically slows and eventually stops.
Adjust the sensitivity of the automatic wiping function by turning the wiper speed control switch (1).
When the wiper lever is moved to the AUTO position while the vehicle is in the ON position, the Kia Telluride performs a single wipe to verify proper system operation. Move the switch back to OFF whenever the automatic function is not required.
WARNING
When the vehicle is in the ON position and the windshield wiper switch is set to AUTO, observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of injury:
Keep your hands and fingers away from the upper area of the windshield where the rain sensor is installed.
Do not clean the sensor area using a wet cloth while the system is active.
Avoid pressing directly against the windshield in the area surrounding the rain sensor.
NOTE
Before washing the Kia Telluride, move the wiper switch to the OFF position. Leaving the switch in AUTO may cause the wipers to activate unexpectedly and potentially damage the blades or arms.
Do not remove or tamper with the rain sensor cover located near the upper passenger side of the windshield. Damage to sensor components may not be covered by the vehicle warranty.
During winter weather, always place the wiper switch in the OFF position before starting the vehicle. Remove all snow and ice from the windshield and fully defrost the glass before operating the wipers to prevent blade or motor damage.
If the windshield is tinted, ensure that tinting solution or installation fluids do not enter the rain sensor area at the upper center of the windshield, as this may affect system operation or damage related components.
