Subaru Forester: SRS airbag (Supplemental Restraint System airbag) / Conditions in which front passenger’s SRS frontal airbag is activated
The front passenger’s SRS frontal airbag
will be activated for deployment upon
impact when any of the following conditions
are met regarding the front passenger’s
seat.
- When the seat is occupied by an adult.
- When certain items (e.g. jug of water)
are placed on the seat.

This can be caused by the adult incorrectly
sitting in the front passenger’s seat...
Other information:
To lower the armrest, pull down the top
edge of the armrest.
WARNING
To avoid serious injury, passengers
must never sit on the center
armrest.
When using the seatbelt, do not
allow it to become tangled with
an arm rest. The seatbelt will not
perform its original function in an
emergency and it may cause a
serious injury...
The vehicle is involved in frontal collision
with another vehicle (moving or stationary).
The vehicle is struck from behind.
The vehicle pitches end over end.
In the event of accidents like those
illustrated, the SRS side airbag and SRS
curtain airbag are not designed to deploy
in most cases...
