Basic function

Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA) uses sensor fusion technology to monitor the road ahead for vehicles, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists. When the system recognizes a potential risk of impact, it can provide a visual warning on the instrument cluster together with an audible alert to help the driver react promptly. If necessary, the Kia Telluride may also apply braking assistance to help reduce the severity of a collision or, in certain situations, help avoid one altogether.

At higher driving speeds, Forward Collision-avoidance Assist can also monitor vehicles traveling ahead as well as in adjacent lanes. If you begin changing lanes while the system determines that a collision risk exists, the Kia Telluride may automatically apply emergency braking to help mitigate or prevent the impact. This feature is available on equipped vehicles.

Junction Turning function

When making a left turn at an intersection with the turn signal ON, the Junction Turning function can detect vehicles, motorcyclists, or cyclists approaching from the opposite direction. If the system determines that a collision is likely, it can automatically apply emergency braking to help reduce the risk of an accident or lessen its impact.

Direct Oncoming function


	Oncoming vehicle

The Direct Oncoming function is designed to recognize vehicles or motorcycles approaching from the opposite direction. If a collision becomes imminent, the system can assist by applying braking to help lower the collision speed and improve overall occupant protection.

Junction Crossing function: (if equipped)

When driving through an intersection, the Junction Crossing function can monitor traffic approaching from the left or right. If the Kia Telluride determines that crossing traffic presents an immediate collision risk, it may activate emergency braking to help avoid the collision or reduce its severity. This feature is available on selected models.

Lane-Change Oncoming function: (if equipped)

During a lane change, the Lane-Change Oncoming function can recognize an approaching vehicle or motorcyclist in the opposing direction. If a collision risk is detected, the system can provide steering assistance to help the driver safely complete or avoid the maneuver.

Lane-Change Side function: (if equipped)

When moving into another lane, the Lane-Change Side function continuously monitors nearby traffic. If the system detects a vehicle or motorcycle in the adjacent lane that could create a collision hazard, it can assist with steering to help the driver avoid contact while completing the lane change.

Evasive Steering Assist function: (if equipped)

If the Kia Telluride detects the possibility of a collision with a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist ahead, Driver Steering Assist can support your steering input to help you maneuver around the hazard while maintaining greater vehicle stability.
Evasive Steering Assist

Evasive Steering Assist is intended to help reduce the likelihood of striking a pedestrian or cyclist traveling ahead in the same lane. When the system detects a potential collision, it first alerts the driver and then provides steering assistance if you begin turning the steering wheel to avoid the obstacle.

Detection sensor

Please refer to Detecting sensor(s) for information about the sensors used by the Kia Telluride, along with their installation locations and inspection guidelines.

WARNING

Never damage, modify, or disassemble the detection sensors or any part of the sensor assemblies.

If any detection sensor has been replaced or repaired, have the Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to verify proper system operation.

If the vehicle experiences an impact near the radar area, Forward Collision-avoidance Assist may not function correctly, even when no warning message appears in the instrument cluster. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Do not tint the windshield or attach stickers, films, or accessories that could interfere with the forward-facing camera.

Keep the front view camera clean and dry at all times to help maintain reliable detection performance.

Do not place reflective objects, such as mirrors or white paper, on top of the instrument panel where they could interfere with camera operation.

Avoid placing objects near the windshield or installing accessories that may reduce the effectiveness of the climate control system's defogging and defrosting functions, as this could affect the operation of the driver assistance systems.

Do not install a license plate frame, bumper guard, decorative film, bumper sticker, or similar object near the front radar cover.

Always keep the front radar cover clean and free from mud, snow, dirt, insects, or other debris.

Wash the area only with a soft cloth and avoid directing high-pressure water at the sensor or its protective cover.

If paint is applied to, or the front, front corner, or rear corner radar sensor covers are replaced or modified, Forward Collision-avoidance Assist may not operate as intended.

When repairs are necessary, use only Kia genuine parts or replacement components that meet equivalent quality and performance standards for the radar sensor covers.

The system may not perform correctly if the bumper has been replaced or if the front corner or rear corner radar areas have been damaged or repainted.

Installing a trailer, bicycle carrier, cargo carrier, or similar equipment may interfere with the sensors and reduce the performance of Forward Collision-avoidance Assist or prevent the system from operating properly.
