The Kia Telluride is equipped with an immobilizer system designed to help protect the vehicle against theft. If an incorrectly coded key or an unauthorized device is used, the vehicle's power system is disabled to prevent the engine from starting.
When the ENGINE START/STOP button is placed in the ON position, the immobilizer indicator should illuminate briefly and then turn off. If the indicator continues flashing, the system has not recognized the coding stored in the smart key.
Return the ENGINE START/STOP button to the OFF position, then switch it back to the ON position and try again.
If the immobilizer repeatedly fails to recognize the smart key, contact an authorized Kia dealer for diagnosis and service.
Do not attempt to modify the immobilizer system or install additional electronic devices that interfere with its operation. Unauthorized modifications may create electrical problems and could prevent your Kia Telluride from operating properly.
Deactivating the immobilizer system
Press the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position using a properly registered smart key.
Activating the immobilizer system
Move the ENGINE START/STOP button to the OFF position. The immobilizer system activates automatically. Without a valid registered smart key, the Kia Telluride engine cannot be started.
TIP
When starting the Kia Telluride, avoid placing other immobilizer-equipped keys close to the registered smart key. Multiple coded keys near each other may interfere with proper recognition, preventing the engine from starting or causing it to stop shortly after startup.
If additional smart keys are required or an existing key has been lost, contact an authorized Kia dealer.
To help protect your vehicle against theft, never leave spare keys inside the vehicle. Your immobilizer password is unique to your vehicle and should remain confidential. Do not store this information anywhere inside the Kia Telluride.
