Subaru Forester: Keys / Battery replacement

The Kia Telluride smart key is powered by a 3V lithium battery, which typically provides reliable operation for several years under normal conditions.

If you are not familiar with replacing the battery or have any concerns about the procedure, contact an authorized Kia dealer for assistance.

To replace the smart key battery:

1. Gently separate the smart key housing by carefully prying open the battery cover with a thin, suitable tool.
2. Replace the old battery with a new CR2450 battery. When installing the replacement battery, make sure the positive and negative terminals are positioned correctly.

   If the battery is installed with the wrong polarity, it will quickly discharge and the smart key will not function properly.

3. Reassemble the smart key by reversing the removal procedure.

   If the smart key itself requires replacement, visit an authorized Kia dealer.

   The Kia Telluride smart key is designed for years of dependable service. However, exposure to moisture, excessive static electricity, or improper handling may affect its operation. If you are uncertain about replacing the battery yourself, have the procedure performed by an authorized Kia dealer.

   Always install the correct battery type. Using an incorrect battery may cause the smart key to malfunction or reduce its operating reliability.

   

   Improper disposal of used batteries may be harmful to both the environment and human health. Dispose of depleted batteries in accordance with all applicable local laws and recycling regulations.

   Smart key damage

   The Kia Telluride smart key may stop working properly if it is dropped or exposed to moisture, static electricity, excessive heat, or prolonged direct sunlight.
