Automatic reverse

During power liftgate operation, the liftgate continuously monitors for resistance. If an obstacle is detected, the liftgate will either stop or reverse to the fully open position to help reduce the risk of injury or damage.

The automatic reverse feature may not perform as expected, or it may activate unexpectedly, under the following conditions:

  • The system may not detect very light resistance, especially when the liftgate is almost fully closed and approaching the latch.

  • The automatic reverse function may activate if excessive force is applied while manually pushing the liftgate closed.

WARNING

Never intentionally place your hands, arms, any other part of your body, or any object in the path of the moving power liftgate to test the automatic reverse function. Doing so could result in serious injury or damage to your Kia Telluride.

TIP

If the automatic reverse feature is activated more than twice during one opening or closing cycle, the power liftgate may temporarily stop operating. If this happens, carefully operate the liftgate manually if necessary, wait approximately 30 seconds, and then try operating the power liftgate again.

NOTE

Liftgate gas lifters

Always ensure the liftgate is completely closed before driving your Kia Telluride. Driving with the liftgate partially open may place unnecessary stress on the gas lift supports and related hardware, potentially leading to premature wear or damage.
