Subaru Forester: Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) / Instrument cluster display for warning message

The instrument cluster in your Kia Telluride displays the following Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) warning messages whenever the corresponding operating conditions are detected.

An EPB warning message accompanied by an audible alert may appear under the following circumstances:

• You press the accelerator pedal while the EPB is still engaged, but the system is unable to release the parking brake automatically.

• You attempt to drive with the EPB applied and automatic release does not occur. In this case, a warning message and chime notify you that manual intervention is required.

To release EPB, close the doors, the hood and the trunk/liftgate and fasten the seatbelt.

Firmly depress the brake pedal and manually release the EPB using the EPB switch.

WARNING

• You may hear a clicking sound or the electric brake motor operating while the EPB is being applied or released. These sounds are normal and indicate proper Electronic Parking Brake operation.

• If you leave your Kia Telluride with a valet or parking attendant, explain the correct procedure for operating the EPB.

• Driving with the EPB engaged may lead to improper system operation and excessive brake wear.

• When the parking brake releases automatically after pressing the accelerator pedal, apply throttle smoothly to ensure a controlled vehicle launch.

If the transition from AUTO HOLD to EPB does not operate correctly, the following warning message and audible alert appear:

Press brake pedal to deactivate AUTO HOLD

If the EPB is automatically engaged while AUTO HOLD is active due to an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) intervention, the system displays the following message together with an audible warning:
