Subaru Forester: Infotainment system / Over-The-Air (OTA) software update

The Over-The-Air (OTA) software update feature allows your Kia Telluride to receive the latest compatible software wirelessly without requiring a visit to a service center. By keeping the vehicle software up to date, you can benefit from the newest available system improvements and feature enhancements designed for your vehicle. To use the OTA update function, an active Kia Connect service subscription is required.

Downloading software

When a new software version becomes available for your Kia Telluride, it is downloaded automatically while you are driving, provided the necessary conditions are met. After the download has finished, you will receive a notification through the Kia Access app on your smartphone or on the vehicle display informing you that the update is ready to be installed. The installation can be started the next time the vehicle is turned off.

  2. Close

The display shows the progress of the software installation throughout the update process. During certain stages, the screen may temporarily switch off and then restart automatically as different vehicle modules are updated.

When the installation has been completed successfully, a confirmation message will be delivered through the Kia Access app on your smartphone or displayed directly on the Kia Telluride infotainment screen.

TIP

  • To help preserve battery power, the display automatically turns off after approximately three minutes. If you want to check the installation status, simply press the ENGINE START/STOP button to wake the screen.

  • You may safely leave the vehicle once the update process has started.

  • The Over-The-Air (OTA) software update function is available only for vehicles enrolled in the Kia Connect service.

  • The information displayed during the installation may differ depending on the software version currently installed in your Kia Telluride.

  • If the software update does not complete successfully, the system automatically attempts a recovery procedure. After recovery has finished successfully, press the Start button on the screen if you wish to retry the software installation.

If both the update and the recovery procedure are unsuccessful, contact an authorized Kia dealer for assistance.

  • Once the update has finished, a completion message appears on the display. Select Details or scan the QR Code to review information about the installed software version and included changes.

TIP

  • Observe the following restrictions while the software update is in progress:

    • The vehicle cannot be driven during installation. Make sure you have enough available time and park the Kia Telluride safely before starting the update.

    • Remote vehicle functions, including Remote Start, are unavailable while the update is being installed.

    • The vehicle cannot be charged during the software installation. Begin charging only after the update has been completed.

    • The Rear Occupant Alert function may not operate while the update is in progress. Always visually inspect the rear seats before leaving the vehicle.

    • If the Digital Key feature is included in the software package, Digital Key or fingerprint authentication for locking and unlocking the doors may be temporarily unavailable. Review the update information and use the smart key buttons until the installation has been completed.

  • If any required vehicle condition changes before installation begins, the update is automatically canceled to help ensure a safe installation.

  • Once the software installation has started, it cannot be canceled.

  • The OTA software update function cannot be used if unauthorized modifications or replacements have been made to the vehicle software.

  • Do not open the hood or disconnect or replace the vehicle battery while the update is in progress, as doing so may cause the installation to fail.

  • During the software update, the high-voltage-related module responsible for charging the 12V battery may operate automatically.

  • If any diagnostic device or OBD dongle is connected to the vehicle's On-board Diagnostic (OBD) port, the OTA update cannot proceed. Remove the connected device and restart the vehicle before attempting the installation again.

  • The vehicle must have adequate network reception to safely complete the installation of downloaded software.

  • For reliable OTA software installation, vehicle signal strength must remain above -82 dBm.
