If rain, snow, dirt, or other foreign material accumulates on the rear bumper near the rear corner radar sensors, or if a trailer, bicycle rack, cargo carrier, or similar attachment is installed, the detection capability of Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may be reduced. Under these conditions, the Kia Telluride may temporarily limit or disable the function.
When this occurs, an appropriate warning message will be displayed on the instrument cluster to notify the driver that the system's detection performance has been restricted.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist should resume normal operation once snow, rain, dirt, or other obstructions are removed from the radar area and any trailer or carrier attached to the rear bumper has been removed.
If Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist continues to operate abnormally after cleaning the sensors and removing any obstructions, have your Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to verify proper sensor alignment and system operation.
WARNING
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may not function correctly even if no warning message is displayed on the instrument cluster.
The system may also operate improperly immediately after starting the Kia Telluride if the radar sensors are contaminated or if there are no detectable objects nearby, such as when the vehicle is parked in a large open area.
WARNING
Turn Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist OFF before installing or removing a trailer, carrier, or any other rear-mounted attachment. After the attachment has been removed and the rear radar area is unobstructed, turn Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist ON again to restore normal operation.
