Subaru Forester: Outside Rearview Mirrors / Reverse parking aid function: (if equipped)

When the transmission is shifted into the R (Reverse) position, the outside rearview mirrors can automatically tilt downward to provide a clearer view of the area near the vehicle, making reverse parking in your Kia Telluride more convenient and precise.

The operation of this feature depends on the position of the outside rearview mirror selector switch (1).

Left or Right: Selecting either the L (Left) or R (Right) position allows the corresponding outside mirror to tilt downward automatically when Reverse is engaged.

Neutral: If the selector remains in the neutral position, neither outside mirror will move when shifting into Reverse.

After reverse driving is complete, the outside rearview mirrors automatically return to their normal driving positions in the following situations:

  • The ENGINE START/STOP button is switched to either OFF or ACC.

  • The transmission is shifted from R (Reverse) to any other gear.

  • The outside rearview mirror selector switch is returned to the neutral position.

Auto reverse user settings

If the factory-programmed mirror angle does not provide the visibility you prefer while reversing your Kia Telluride, you can customize the mirror positions to better suit your driving style.

The left and right mirrors can each store independent reverse positions for improved visibility around curbs, parking lines, or obstacles.

  1. Place the shift lever in P (Park). Confirm the vehicle is completely stopped and the mirrors are not currently moving.
  2. Move the mirror selector switch to either L (Left) or R (Right), depending on which mirror you want to adjust.
  3. Press and hold the brake pedal, then shift into R (Reverse).
  4. After the selected mirror finishes tilting downward, use the directional switches (▼, ▲, ◀, ▶) to adjust it to your preferred viewing angle.
  5. To automatically store the new position, shift out of R (Reverse), move the mirror selector switch back to the neutral position, and allow the mirror to return automatically to its normal driving position.
  6. Repeat the same procedure for the opposite side mirror if desired.

How to reset auto reverse user settings

If you want to restore the reverse mirror function to its original factory setting, complete the following procedure:

  1. Shift the transmission into P (Park). Verify that the vehicle is stationary and the mirrors have stopped moving.
  2. Move the mirror selector switch to either the L (Left) or R (Right) position for the mirror you wish to reset.
  3. Press the brake pedal and shift into R (Reverse).
  4. Once the mirror reaches its reverse position, press the ▲ (Up) switch until the mirror moves above its normal driving position (P, N or D reference position).
  5. Shift out of R (Reverse) or return the mirror selector switch to the neutral position. The mirror will initialize and restore the factory reverse setting during the next operation.
  6. Repeat these steps for the opposite mirror if necessary.

    TIP

Kia recommends completing every step in the order shown above when saving or restoring the reverse mirror settings. Skipping a step or changing the sequence may prevent the desired angle from being stored correctly or keep the initialization process from completing successfully.
