Subaru Forester: Air bag - advanced supplemental restraint system / Side air bag and front center side air bag

Your Kia Telluride is equipped with side air bags for both front occupants as well as the outboard passengers in the second row. In addition, a front center side air bag is designed to provide enhanced protection between the driver and front passenger during certain side-impact collisions.

The side air bags and front center side air bag are engineered to supplement the protection provided by the seat belts. Together, these systems help reduce the risk of serious injury to the driver, front passenger, and second-row outboard passengers during qualifying side-impact collisions.

  • The side air bags and front center side air bag may deploy during certain side impacts, depending on factors such as collision severity, impact direction, and sensor input.

  • Depending on the characteristics of the collision, the side air bags may inflate on the impacted side only or, in some situations, on both sides of the vehicle.

  • When a rollover or a potential rollover is detected, the curtain air bags on both sides may also deploy to provide additional occupant protection.

  • Not every side impact or rollover event will result in side air bag or front center side air bag deployment. Activation depends on whether the collision meets the system's programmed deployment criteria.

  • The side air bag system in the Kia Telluride is intended to complement the seat belts rather than replace them. Every occupant should always wear a properly fastened seat belt whenever the vehicle is moving.

  • For maximum protection and to reduce the risk of injury during air bag deployment, both front occupants should remain seated upright with their backs against the seatback and their seat belts securely fastened. The driver should hold the steering wheel at approximately the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions, while the front passenger should keep both hands resting comfortably on the lap.

  • If a seat, seat trim, or seat cover becomes damaged or requires replacement, have the Kia Telluride inspected and repaired by an authorized Kia dealer to ensure proper air bag operation.
