Subaru Forester: Air bag - advanced supplemental restraint system / Curtain air bag

The curtain air bags are installed along both roof rails above the front and rear doors of the Kia Telluride. Their purpose is to help protect occupants seated next to the side windows during certain side impacts and rollover events.

The actual curtain air bag modules installed in your vehicle may differ slightly from those shown in the illustration.

When deployed under the appropriate crash conditions, curtain air bags help reduce the risk of occupant ejection and provide additional head protection, particularly when all occupants are properly restrained with their seat belts.

  • Curtain air bags may deploy during certain side-impact collisions depending on the impact angle, collision severity, vehicle speed, and point of impact.

  • Deployment may occur on the impacted side only or, when required by the collision characteristics, on both sides of the vehicle.

  • Both curtain air bags may also deploy during certain rollover events or when the rollover detection system determines that deployment is appropriate.

  • Curtain air bags are not designed to deploy during every side collision or rollover. Their activation depends on the specific conditions detected by the SRS sensors.

To help ensure proper protection, passengers should never rest their head or upper body against the doors, place their arms on the door trim, extend their arms outside the windows, or position objects between themselves and the door panels while occupying seats equipped with side and curtain air bags.

TIP

Refer to the WARNING, CAUTION, and NOTE information in the Precautions section for additional air bag safety recommendations.
