Subaru Forester: Opening and closing / Dual wide sunroof: (if equipped)
If your Kia Telluride is equipped with a dual wide sunroof, you can conveniently slide or tilt the front glass panel using the sunroof switch located on the overhead console. The system is designed to provide additional ventilation, natural light, and a more open cabin atmosphere while maintaining easy operation.

Front
The dual wide sunroof operates only when the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON or START position.
After the ENGINE START/STOP button is switched to the ACC or OFF position, the sunroof can still be operated for approximately 3 minutes. However, if either front door is opened during this period, the sunroof controls become inactive.
WARNING

Operate the sunroof only when the Kia Telluride is safely parked. Attempting to adjust the sunroof while driving may distract you from the road and increase the risk of an accident.

Whenever leaving the vehicle, even briefly, switch off the ignition and take the smart key with you to prevent children from operating the sunroof.

Do not sit, stand, or place heavy loads on the roof panel, as excessive weight may damage the dual sunroof assembly.
NOTE
Do not operate the sunroof while roof crossbars or roof-mounted cargo interfere with the movement of the glass panels.
Sunshade (Front)/Power sunshade (Rear)
The front sunshade and rear power sunshade help reduce sunlight entering the cabin through the dual wide sunroof, improving passenger comfort while minimizing glare and interior heat buildup.
Tilt open/close (Front)

Push the sunroof switch upward to tilt the front sunroof glass open for additional ventilation.

When the glass is in the tilted position, push the switch upward or forward to return the sunroof to the fully closed position.
To stop movement at any desired position, press the sunroof switch in any direction.
Slide open/close (Front)

Push the sunroof switch rearward to open both the front sunshade and the front sunroof glass.
Push the switch forward to close only the sunroof glass.

Press the switch forward or rearward to the first detent position to move the glass manually. The glass will continue moving only while the switch is held.

Press the switch to the second detent position to activate the automatic slide function.
You can stop the movement at any time by pressing the switch in either direction.
Automatic reversal

If the power sunshade or front sunroof glass detects an obstruction while closing automatically, the system reverses direction and stops at a safe position to help reduce the possibility of injury or component damage.
The automatic reversal feature may not respond if an extremely thin or soft object becomes trapped between the moving power sunshade or sunroof glass and the surrounding frame.
WARNING

Always make sure that hands, arms, heads, and other body parts, as well as any objects, are clear of the sunroof opening before operating the system. Pinching injuries or vehicle damage may occur.

Never intentionally place any part of your body in the path of the moving power sunshade or sunroof glass to test the automatic reversal function. Although the system is designed to reverse direction, injury is still possible.
NOTE
-
Do not continue pressing the sunroof switch after the glass has reached its fully open, fully closed, or fully tilted position. Doing so may damage the sunroof motor.

Repeated continuous operation, including frequent slide or tilt cycles, may cause the motor or sunroof mechanism to overheat or malfunction.

Regularly clean the sunroof rails to remove accumulated dirt and debris.

Dust trapped between the roof panel and the sunroof may create operating noise. Open the sunroof periodically and clean the surrounding area using a soft cloth.

Do not attempt to operate the sunroof when temperatures are below freezing or when snow or ice covers the glass. Forcing the mechanism may result in damage.

Avoid opening the sunroof immediately after rain or washing the vehicle, as residual water may enter the cabin.

Do not allow cargo or long objects to protrude through the sunroof while driving. Sudden vehicle movement could damage the Kia Telluride or the transported load.
WARNING
Never extend your head, arms, or any objects through the sunroof opening while driving the Kia Telluride. Unexpected braking or sudden maneuvers could result in serious injury.
Resetting the sunroof

Under certain conditions, the Kia Telluride sunroof system may require a reset to restore normal automatic operation. Performing the reset allows the control module to relearn the full travel range of the power sunshade and sunroof glass after power has been interrupted or system memory has been cleared.
Resetting the sunroof may be necessary in the following situations:
-
After the 12-volt battery has been disconnected or completely discharged.
-
After replacing or reinstalling the sunroof fuse.
-
If the one-touch AUTO OPEN/CLOSE function no longer operates correctly.
Follow this procedure to reset the Kia Telluride sunroof system:

It is recommended to perform the reset while the vehicle is running. Start the engine and make sure the transmission is in P (Park).

Confirm that both the power sunshade and the sunroof glass are completely closed. If either component is open, press and hold the switch forward until both are fully closed.

Release the switch after the power sunshade and the sunroof glass have reached the fully closed position.
-
Press the switch forward once more until the power sunshade or sunroof glass moves slightly, then release the switch.
-
Again, press and hold the sunroof switch forward until the power sunshade and the sunroof glass complete a full open-and-close cycle automatically. Keep the switch pressed until the entire sequence finishes.
If the switch is released before the reset cycle is complete, repeat the procedure beginning with Step 2.
NOTE
If the Kia Telluride sunroof still does not operate normally after the battery has been disconnected, discharged, or the fuse has been replaced, repeat the reset procedure. If the condition remains, have the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
Sunroof open warning

If you switch the vehicle off while the sunroof is not completely closed, the instrument cluster will display a sunroof open warning and a warning chime will sound for several seconds to remind you before leaving the Kia Telluride.
Always verify that the sunroof is completely closed before exiting and locking the vehicle.
CAUTION
Before leaving your Kia Telluride unattended, make sure the sunroof is fully closed.
An open sunroof can allow rain, snow, or other debris to enter the cabin and may also increase the risk of unauthorized access to the vehicle.
