Subaru Forester: Remote engine start system (dealer option) / Entering the vehicle while it is running via remote start (models with
“keyless access with push-button start system”)
- Unlock the vehicle doors using the
keyless access function and remote keyless
entry system.
NOTE
If the vehicle’s doors are unlocked
manually using the key, the vehicle’s
alarm system will trigger (if the alarm
system is armed prior to activating the
remote engine start system) and the
engine will turn off. Perform either of
the following procedures to disarm the
alarm system. Refer to “Alarm system”.
- Turn the push-button ignition
switch to the “ACC” or “ON” position.
- Press any button on the access
key fob.
- Enter the vehicle. The engine will
remain running provided the access key
fob is present and detected by the vehicle.
- Press the push-button ignition switch
once while depressing the brake pedal
before driving your vehicle. The remote
engine starter transceiver (fob) will flash
and beep 3 times to indicate that the
remote start system has been shut down.
An alarm trigger may occur if the vehicle is
opened by the remote keyless entry
transmitter within a few seconds immediately
following remote engine start shutdown...

Anti-entrapment function
When the moonroof senses a substantial
enough object trapped between its glass
and the vehicle’s roof during closure, it
automatically moves back to the fully open
position and stops there. The anti-entrapment
function may also be activated by a
strong shock on the moonroof even when
there is nothing trapped...
