Subaru Forester: Opening and closing / Sunroof : (if equipped)

If equipped, the Kia Telluride sunroof allows additional ventilation and natural light by providing both sliding and tilting functions. The sunroof is operated using the switch located on the overhead console.
The sunroof functions only when the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON position. After switching the ignition to the ACC or OFF position, the sunroof can continue operating for approximately 3 minutes.
If either front door is opened during this retained power period, the sunroof can no longer be operated.
WARNING

Operate the sunroof only when it is safe to do so. Using the controls while driving may distract the driver and increase the risk of an accident.

Whenever leaving the Kia Telluride, even briefly, switch the vehicle off and take the smart key with you to prevent children from operating the sunroof.

Do not sit, stand, or place heavy loads on the roof panel, as excessive weight may damage the sunroof assembly.
NOTE
Avoid operating the sunroof when roof crossbars, cargo carriers, or oversized luggage are installed on the roof, as they may interfere with normal operation or damage the system.
Sunshade

The sunshade helps reduce direct sunlight and heat entering the cabin through the sunroof glass, improving comfort for occupants.
Open or close the sunshade manually whenever desired.
NOTE
-
The sunshade automatically retracts whenever the sunroof glass opens. However, it does not automatically close when the glass closes, and it cannot be fully closed while the sunroof glass remains open.

Do not force the sunshade open or closed. Applying excessive pressure may damage the mechanism or affect proper operation.

Push the sunroof switch upward to raise the rear of the sunroof glass into the vent position.

To close the tilted sunroof, push the switch forward or pull it downward until the glass is completely closed.
The sunroof continues moving only while the switch remains pressed.
NOTE
The Kia Telluride sunroof cannot perform both tilt and slide functions simultaneously. The glass must be completely closed before changing from slide operation to tilt operation or vice versa.
Slide open/close

Push the sunroof switch rearward to slide both the sunshade and the sunroof glass open. Push the switch forward to close the glass.

Press the switch rearward or forward to the first detent position for manual operation. The glass moves only while the switch is held. Press the switch in any direction to stop movement immediately.

The sunroof glass pauses at the first detent position before reaching the fully open position. To continue opening beyond this point, push the switch rearward again. After the pause, the glass continues opening only while the switch remains pressed.
NOTE
To minimize wind buffeting and cabin noise while driving your Kia Telluride, using the first detent opening position is generally recommended instead of the fully open position.
Automatic reversal

If the Kia Telluride sunroof glass detects an obstruction while closing automatically, it will reverse direction and then stop at a predetermined position to help reduce the risk of injury or damage.
The automatic reversal function may not operate properly if a very thin or soft object is caught between the sliding sunroof glass and the sunroof frame.
WARNING

Before operating the sunroof, always make sure that heads, hands, arms, and other body parts or objects are completely clear of the sunroof opening. Anything caught in the moving glass may cause injury or vehicle damage.

Never use your hands, arms, or any other body part to test the automatic reversal function. Although the sunroof glass may reverse direction, serious injury can still occur.
NOTE
-
Do not continue pressing the sunroof switch after the glass is fully opened, fully closed, or fully tilted. Continued operation may damage the sunroof motor.

Repeated continuous operation, such as cycling between slide open/close or tilt open/close, may cause the sunroof motor or operating system to malfunction.

Regularly clean dust and debris from the sunroof rails.

Dust buildup between the sunroof glass and roof panel may create noise during operation. Open the sunroof periodically and clean the area with a soft, clean cloth.

Do not attempt to open the sunroof when the outside temperature is below freezing or when snow or ice is covering the glass. Forcing the sunroof open may damage the mechanism.

Do not open or drive with the sunroof glass open immediately after rain or after washing the vehicle, as water may enter and wet the interior.

Do not allow luggage or other objects to extend through the sunroof while driving. Sudden braking or movement may damage the vehicle or cause injury.
WARNING
Never extend your head, arms, body parts, or objects outside the sunroof while driving your Kia Telluride. Sudden stops, turns, or road impacts may cause serious injury.
Resetting the sunroof

In certain situations, the sunroof system may need to be reset so that its automatic operation functions correctly. Resetting may be required in the following cases:

The 12-volt battery has been disconnected or discharged.
-
The sunroof fuse has been replaced.
-
The one-touch AUTO OPEN/CLOSE function is not operating normally.
Sunroof resetting procedure:

For stable electrical power, perform the reset procedure with the engine running and the transmission in P (Park).

Make sure the sunroof glass is fully closed. If it is open, push the switch forward until the glass closes completely.

Release the switch once the sunroof glass is fully closed.

Push the switch forward again until the sunroof glass moves slightly, then release the switch.

Push and hold the sunroof switch forward once more until the glass slides open and then closes. Keep holding the switch until the full operation is completed. If you release the switch before the cycle finishes, restart the procedure from step 2.
NOTE
If the sunroof is not reset after the vehicle battery has been disconnected or discharged, or after the sunroof fuse has been replaced, the Kia Telluride sunroof may not operate normally.
Sunroof open warning

If the driver turns off the engine while the sunroof is not fully closed, a warning chime sounds for several seconds and a sunroof open warning appears on the instrument cluster.
Always close the sunroof securely before leaving your Kia Telluride unattended.
NOTE
Make sure the sunroof is fully closed when leaving the vehicle. If left open, rain or snow may enter and damage the interior. An open sunroof may also increase the risk of theft when the vehicle is unattended.

Outside temperature indicator
