Subaru Forester: Surround View Monitor (SVM): (if equipped) / Surround View Monitor malfunction and limitations

Surround View Monitor malfunction

If Surround View Monitor malfunctions, the image on the display may appear green, blue, black, distorted, or otherwise abnormal.

Have the Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer if Surround View Monitor does not operate correctly, if the screen flickers, or if the camera image is not displayed properly.

Limitations of Surround View Monitor

If the vehicle remains stopped for an extended period in cold weather, or if it is parked inside an enclosed parking area, exhaust fumes may temporarily blur or distort the camera image shown on the Surround View Monitor.

  • The screen may display abnormally and an icon may appear in the upper-left area under the following conditions:

    • The liftgate is opened.

    • The driver’s door or front passenger door is opened.

    • An outside rearview mirror is folded.

WARNING

  • Always check for people, objects, curbs, and other obstacles around the Kia Telluride before moving. The image shown on the screen may not exactly match the vehicle’s actual position or surroundings.

  • The distance shown on the Surround View Monitor may differ from the actual distance because the wide-angle camera image is calibrated for display. If the vehicle is tilted due to loaded cargo, Rear Parking Guidelines may be inaccurate. Always confirm the area around the vehicle directly when parking or driving.

  • Surround View Monitor is intended for use on relatively flat surfaces. The displayed image may appear inaccurate on uneven roads or surfaces with height differences, such as curbs, ramps, and speed bumps.

  • Keep all camera lenses clean to maintain clear image quality and proper Surround View Monitor operation. Do not clean camera lenses with chemical solvents, strong alkaline detergents, gasoline, acetone, or other volatile organic solvents that may damage the lens surface.

  • Driving with the liftgate open is not normal vehicle operation. For safety, stay alert and drive carefully if this condition occurs.

TIP

Surround View Monitor creates images of the area around the vehicle using cameras mounted on the Kia Telluride. Depending on vehicle position, lighting, road surface, and surrounding objects, the image may appear slightly unnatural. Normal daily driving can help calibrate and improve the displayed Surround View Monitor image.
