Subaru Forester: Windows / Window opening and closing

You can raise or lower each window using its corresponding power window switch.

Auto up/down window

To manually open or close a window, press down or pull up the front portion of the appropriate switch to the first detent position (1). The window will continue moving only while the switch is being held.

Briefly pressing or pulling the switch to the second detent position (2) activates the one-touch auto function. The window will automatically travel all the way down or up even after you release the switch. If you want the window to stop before reaching the fully open or closed position, simply press or pull the switch once more while the glass is moving.

To reset the power windows

If the Kia Telluride power windows do not operate correctly or the automatic function stops working, reset the system using the following procedure:

Turn the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.
Close the affected window completely, then continue holding the power window switch in the upward position for at least 1 additional second after the glass reaches the fully closed position.

Automatic reversal

If an object or any part of a person's body obstructs the window while it is closing, the Kia Telluride automatic reversal system detects the resistance and immediately stops the upward movement. The window will then automatically lower approximately 11.8 inches (30 cm), allowing the obstruction to be removed safely.

If resistance is detected while you continuously hold the power window switch in the upward position, the window will stop and automatically move downward approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm).

If you continue pulling up the power window switch within 5 seconds after the automatic reversal function has activated, the automatic reversal feature will be temporarily bypassed so the window can continue closing.

TIP

The automatic reversal feature is available only when the "Auto Up" function is used by fully pulling the switch to the second detent position. It does not operate when the window is closed manually using the first detent position.

NOTE

Always check that the window opening is clear before raising the glass. Small objects measuring less than approximately 0.16 inch (4 mm) in diameter caught between the window and the upper channel may not generate enough resistance for the automatic reversal system to detect them. Under those conditions, the window may continue closing without reversing direction.

WARNING

During the power window reset procedure, the automatic reversal protection is disabled. Before resetting the system, make absolutely sure that no hands, fingers, or other objects are within the window opening to help prevent injury or vehicle damage.

NOTE

Do not install accessories or equipment that extend into the open window area. Such items can interfere with the proper operation of the Kia Telluride automatic reversal system and reduce its ability to detect obstructions correctly.
