Subaru Forester: Door locks / Electronic child safety lock system

The electronic child safety lock system helps protect rear passengers by preventing the rear doors from being opened from inside the vehicle when the feature is activated.

Press the electronic child safety lock switch once. When the indicator light turns on, rear passengers cannot open the rear doors from inside the Kia Telluride.

To deactivate the system, press the electronic child safety lock switch again. The indicator light will turn off, allowing the rear doors to be opened normally from inside the vehicle.

When Safe Exit Assist is enabled in the instrument cluster settings, it operates together with the electronic child safety lock. However, enabling Safe Exit Assist does not automatically switch on the electronic child safety lock system.

The electronic child safety lock remains available whenever the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON position and continues operating for approximately three minutes after the engine has been turned OFF.

On Kia Telluride models equipped with the electronic child safety lock, conventional manually operated rear child-protector locks are not provided.

While the electronic child safety lock is active, rear passengers are also prevented from operating the rear power windows. Refer to the Windows section for additional information.

WARNING

If the electronic child safety lock system detects a malfunction, a warning message appears on the instrument cluster and an audible chime will sound.

Child safety lock failure

If this warning appears, have your Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.
