When Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is not operating correctly, the Master warning light (Kia Telluride Master warning light icon), the Forward Safety warning light (Kia Telluride Forward Safety warning light icon), and the Emergency Steering warning light (Kia Telluride Emergency Steering warning light icon) appear on the instrument cluster together with a warning message for several seconds. If this occurs, have the Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Kia Telluride camera obscured Driver Assistance system limited message
  1. Driver Assistance system limited. Camera obscured.

Kia Telluride radar blocked Driver Assistance system limited message
  1. Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked.

When foreign material such as snow, heavy rain, dirt, or road debris covers the windshield area where the front view camera is installed, the front radar cover, the bumper, or the sensor area, detection performance can be reduced. In this condition, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may become temporarily limited or disabled.

If this happens, a warning message appears on the instrument cluster along with the Forward Safety warning light (Kia Telluride Forward Safety warning light icon during sensor blockage), the Emergency Steering warning light (Kia Telluride Emergency Steering warning light icon during sensor blockage), and the Master warning light (Kia Telluride Master warning light icon during driver assistance limitation).

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist should return to normal operation after the foreign material, such as snow or rain, is removed from the sensor area.

If Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist still does not operate properly after foreign material has been removed from the sensor, or after obstructions such as a trailer or carrier have been removed from the rear bumper, have the Kia Telluride inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING

  • Even if no warning message or warning light appears on the instrument cluster, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may still not operate properly in certain conditions.

  • Forward Collision-avoidance Assist may not operate correctly in an area where objects are not detected, such as open terrain, immediately after the vehicle is turned ON. The system may also be limited if the detection sensor is blocked by foreign material right after the vehicle is turned ON.

  • If the system is blocked or malfunctioning, turning the engine off and on may not clear the condition, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may continue to operate improperly or remain unavailable.

TIP

You can check the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist status in the service message area of the utility information view on the instrument cluster display.
